Baltimore Metro SubwayLink began operation on November 21, 1983, and was constructed in several phases. Its original section operated between Charles Center and Reisterstown Plaza, and was extended to Owings Mills on July 20, 1987. A further eastward extension, from Charles Center to Johns Hopkins Hospital, opened on May 31, 1995. The line is 24.8 kilometers long and has 14 stations. It also connects to Baltimore Light RailLink services near Lexington Market and State Center, as well as several MTA bus routes.
