M1 Line Overview
Line M1 is the oldest line of the Bucharest Metro. Construction of the line began in 1975, and its first phase, between Timpuri Noi and Semanatoarea (now Petrache Poenaru), opened on November 16, 1979. The line was expanded in several stages, with the final extension opening in 1991. The line is 31 kilometers long and has 22 stations, running on a circular route in Bucharest. Major stations along the route include Piața Victoriei, Gara de Nord, Piața Unirii, and Eroilor, which connect to other lines of the Bucharest Metro.
