Karasuma Line Overview
The Karasuma Line runs from Kokusaikaikan to Takeda, a 13.7-kilometer route with 15 stations. The line was constructed in phases, with the first phase between Kitaoji and Kyoto Station opening on May 29, 1981. It was later extended north to Kokusaikaikan in 1990 and south to Takeda in 1997. It provides interchange between Kyoto Station, Karasuma Oike, Shijō, and Kitaoji Station. It also has a direct service with the Kintetsu Railway at Takeda, providing direct trains to Nara without changing trains.
