Line D was inaugurated in 1991. It runs between Gare de Vés and Gare de Vénissieux. Construction of the line began in phases in 1991, then on December 1, 1992, it was extended from Grange Blanche to Gare de Vénissieux. On April 28, 1997, the line was extended from Grange de Loup to Gare de Véssieux. It is 12.6 kilometers long and has 15 stations.
