U1 Line Overview
The U1 line is the oldest and longest metro line in the Nuremberg metro system. Its first phase opened on March 1, 1972. The line was built in stages over several years, towards Langwasser in the south and towards Fürth in the northwest. Its final extension, to Fürth Hardhöhe, was completed in 2007. It is approximately 18.5 kilometers long and has 27 stations. It is also the only line in the system that is still fully operated by drivers.
