Purple Line Overview
Purple Line began operation in 1908 as part of the Evanston Branch of the Northwestern Elevated Railroad. It runs between Linden and Howard, with weekday rush hour trains traveling to Downtown Chicago via the Loop. The line is 24 kilometers long and has 26 stations. It interchanges with the Red and Yellow Lines at Howard and several other CTA rail lines in the Loop.
