Namboku Line Overview
The Namboku Line is operated by the Sendai Municipal Transportation Bureau. Construction of the line began in 1981, and the first phase, between Yaotome Station and Tomizawa Station, opened on July 15, 1987. Later, in 1992, it was extended northward to Izumi-Chūō Station, completing its current route. The line is 14.8 kilometers long and serves 17 stations. Sendai Station is located on this line, where passengers can interchange with JR Railway services and the Sendai Metro Tozai Line.
