Ashmont-Mattapan High-Speed Line opened on August 26, 1929, as a conversion of a former commuter rail corridor between Ashmont and Milton, and its extension to Mattapan opened on December 21, 1929. The line runs between Ashmont and Mattapan using historic PCC streetcars and is approximately 4 kilometers long and has eight stations. It provides a direct transfer to the Red Line in Ashmont, improving transit access in South Boston and Milton.
