Line 5 Overview

Line 5 of the Guangzhou Metro runs from Liwan District to Huangpu District. It begins in Jiaokou and runs in a wide "∩" shape for 41.7 km, ending at Huangpu New Port. It first opened on 28 December 2009 between Jiaokou and Wenchong, and was later extended further eastward in December 2023. The line currently has approximately 30 stations and operates using a mix of underground and some elevated sections. It connects to several other metro lines, becoming an important interchange corridor.
