Central Line Overview
The western section of the Central line, between West Ruislip and Holland Park, was constructed through extensions carried out from the 1920s to the late 1940s. The West Ruislip branch officially became part of the Underground network in 1948, when the former main railway tracks were converted for Central line use. This section is an important commuter corridor and also provides interchange with National Rail and other London Underground lines at several stations.
