Thomson–East Coast Line Overview

The Thomson-East Coast Line is a medium-capacity mass rapid transit line that began operations in phases in 2020. The first phase, from Woodlands North to Woodlands South, covering approximately 3 km and 3 stations, opened on 31 January 2020 after testing in 2019. The second phase, from Woodlands South to Caldecott, adding approximately 11 km and 6 stations, opened on 28 August 2021 after system trials earlier that year. The third phase, from Caldecott to Gardens by the Bay, extending the line to approximately 13.5 km and 11 stations in the city center, opened on 13 November 2022. The line is being expanded in phases, with the fourth phase from Gardens by the Bay to Bayshore opening on 23 June 2024, and the final section from Bayshore to Sungei Bedok planned for 2026. When fully completed, the line will cover approximately 43 km from Woodlands North to Sungei Bedok, with 32 stations, and form a major north-south and east-west corridor through Singapore.
