U1 Line Overview
The first phase of the Berlin U-Bahn's U1 line was opened on February 18, 1902, between Stralauer Tor and the Zoological Garden, becoming Germany's first underground railway line. Later, in different stages, the route was extended east to Warschauer Strasse and west to Uhlandstrasse. Today, the line is approximately 9 kilometers long, with 13 stations, and is famous for its elevated tracks and the section crossing the Oberbaum Bridge.
