Line 1 Overview
Line 1 was inaugurated on October 17, 1919, and public service began 14 days later on October 31, marking the beginning of the Madrid Metro. Since its opening, the line has undergone several extensions, including the most recent northern extension to Pinar de Chamartín on April 11, 2007, and the southern extension to Valdecaros on May 16, 2007. It has 33 stations and is 24 km long. The line is also known for the historic Chamberí Ghost Station, which is preserved today as part of Madrid's Metro Museum project, showcasing original station design from the early 20th century.
