Line 3 Overview
Line 3 was inaugurated on August 9, 1936, initially running between Sol and Embajadores in central Madrid. The line was extended in several stages, reaching Arguelles in 1941, Delicias in 1949, Legazpi in 1951, and Moncloa in 1963. A major southern extension from Legazpi to Villaverde Alto opened on April 21, 2007, while the latest extension to El Casar opened on April 21, 2025. The line is 16.4 kilometers long and has 19 stations. Line 3 also provides interchange with Madrid Metro lines 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 10, and 12, as well as Cercanías Madrid commuter rail services at Sol, Embajadores, Villaverde Alto, and El Casar, improving connectivity between central Madrid and the southern suburbs.
